A day dedicated to the Rajbhasha, was celebrated by Alfaaz with great pomp and show. Shayaris, quizzes, poems and what not- all celebrating the beautiful language that is Hindi. The event saw artists express themselves in their mother tongue. The event also involved inane amounts of laughter, applauses and singing. The event, headed by Tanya Seth, former president, Alfaaz and anchored by Haripriya was something that made it a day to remember.

 Traction

(2018)

Alfaaz -The Literary society of University School of Management and Entrepreneurship, DTU organized an Open mic poetry competition on “TRACTION”- fest. The event was help on 22nd- 23rd February 2018. Prof. KV Bhanumurthy, Dr. Naval Garg and Dr. Jagvinder were the guests of the event. Being an inter college event, we got colossal participants from various colleges. They recited marvellous pieces of poetry and self-composed stories. Judges encouraged the students for their laudable performances. And a special token of thanks to the organizers of the event – Anmol Kapoor, Tanya Seth, Lakshay Khattar, Garima and Nipunh Narang who superintended the event so beautifully. Winners were given trophies that resulted in massive grins on their faces. The event ended on a good note, with Prof. K.V. Bhanumurthy’s ghazal. No set of words will ever be able to do justice to the event that took place. The event itself, signified the glory.

 Irshaad, An Open Mic

Alfaaz the literary society of University School of Management and Entrepreneurship, DTU organized the OPEN MIC event-IRSHAAD On 7th of November, 2019. There was a good participation of 30 students from different departments of the college. Alfaaz offered them the much need platform to showcase their talent and creativity by reciting poems, music, comedy, storytelling with no language restrictions and thus this open mic event witnessed a huge audience of 150+ students.

 Inizio

Fresher’s time! A time when juniors are excited to get a glimpse into their new life, and seniors are excited to see those who’d be replacing them. Alfaaz, the literary society of USME, DTU organized an open mic at Inizio, the official fresher’s party. An exciting event lit by the stars and brought to life by the joyous shayaris of various participants. Talking about their bond in college, and their struggle in life, the participants managed to bring out the best out of the audience. The echoes of “Waah! Waah” and “Irshaad!” excited everyone involved in the event. The amazing evening was ended by Lakshay Khattar, who delivered a stomach aching comedy performance with his witty sense of humor and amazing observational humor!

 E-Lit Fest

The literary fest is that festival which brings together the community of literary enthusiasts to celebrate the splendor of words. Alfaaz, the literary society organized the ‘E-literary fest' on from 22nd - 23rd April ,2020 to invigorate the same spirit but this time virtually. Though the participants were not physically present, their sheer enthusiasm and love for literature made this event a grand success. The event included 1) Memepanti : 22nd April

In these tough times, it was necessary to add the fun element and therefore, we decided to come up with an online meme making competition ‘ Memepanti' with the theme ‘quarantine’. The winners were Yogesh Agarwal and Aman Tiwari, first runner up was Vedansh Dubey, second runner-up Sophiya Satpatht and third runner up was Gaurang Kaushik.

E-Lit Fest

2) Bollywood Buzz : 23rd April

The first competition was ‘Bollywood buzz' which tested the Bollywood knowledge of participants on the online platform. The enormous participation that we received not only highlighted the fascination for Bollywood but also the great event management skills of the team. There were 20 students who won this competition.

3) Palabras : 23rd April

We conducted a bilingual essay writing competition ‘Palabras’ on the topic “ Is quarantine bringing us together while keeping us apart.” Some of our members judged the competition and chose four winners. The first position was secured by Naman Jain, second by Sparsha Shetty and third by Drishti Sharma and Damandeep Kaur.

4) Between the lines : 23rd April

A literature themed cryptic hunt, between the lines made participants use their intellectual abilities but with the trace of literature. The winners were Shreyas Hoeriharan, Khushi Bhatia, Jaishan Anand and the runner ups were Kabir Jindal and Muskaan Kansal.

5) Words and beyond : 23rd April

The literary fest is incomplete without poetry and Shayari. A competition ‘words and beyond' was organised for the poetry and shayari lovers. A scintilla of emotions, expression and creativity was what we were looking for. The winners for Hindi were Dixit Divyanshi, Ankit Singh and Singh Priya. The winners for English were Abhilash Basu, Agastya Dev and Tathagata Mazumdar.

Independence Day

(15th Augest 2020)

Alfaaz, the literary society of university school of management and entrepreneurship, DTU enthusiastically participated in the independence day event held on 15th of august, 2020. Shreyank Juneja and Srishti Upadhyay were the two members who represented the society in the event. Covering all the facets of independence day, including why its important to show our solidarity towards the nation and how the day holds great significance in the heart of every Indian citizen living in India and abroad. A speech on 'how literature influenced India's freedom struggle' was given by Shreyank Juneja. The speech sheds light on the vital role played by literature in various forms like newspapers, novels, poetry to fight the battle of struggle. The freedom of speech and expression that we enjoy today is the result of our past battles. The journey from Bharat to India has witnessed a lot more than sacrifice and to honour the struggle of those unsung heroes of INDIA and their unwavering spirit a poem was presented by Srishti Upadhyay.

 Teachers Day

Alfaaz the literary society of university school of management and entrepreneurship, DTU participated in the teacher’s day event with great zeal and enthusiasm. Alfaaz came up with a distinctive idea for the event by associating the teachers with the different chocolates and letting the audience put in their estimations in answering and associating the correct teacher with the chocolate. The event was crafted to bring a smile on every teacher’s face by elaborating on their personalities in association with the chocolates. Members of Alfaaz whoparticipated in the event to implement the idea successfully were Shreyank, Garima, Vanshika, Shivam, Srishti, Prakhar, Tanvi, and Khushi.

 Hindi Diwas

(2020)

Alfaaz the literary society of university school of management and entrepreneurship, DTU sponsored the kavyotsav/Shayari event held on Hindi divas 14th of September, 2020. Srishti Upadhyay represented the society in the event as the moderator. The event was lined up to cherish the native language of our country INDIA, and how important it is to use the language in our day to day life in accordance to prevent the language to be counted among the vanished languages, we should hold the essence of proud and gratitude towards our native language, Hindi. The kavyotsav/shayri event was organized to strengthen roots of the Hindi language among the youth, the event had participants from all over INDIA who showcased tier talent enthusiastically, and was even awarded with cash prizes of Rs 1200 by Alfaaz.

 Alfaaz UNCUT (The Podcast Series)

The series is named UNCUT with a view to make the upcoming freshers a part of the USME family, pronto, and help them see the faces of the college, heart to heart, uncut. A 9-episode series, where Alfaaz interviewed society heads, teachers and personalities, was released weekly / monthly on Spotify, YouTube, Anchor, and Apple music. The series received an audience of more than 800..

 Interview with Mr. Avijit Dutt

(September 2020)

Alfaaz got the opportunity to interview the renowned personality, Mr. Avijit Dutt. In the 30 minute long interview the interviewer shared Mr. Dutt’s life, achievements, and his message to the youth generation that sets foot into the real world. He gave a strong message to follow one’s dreams and not to hesitate in moving with art centric careers. The interview was widely
appreciated and was mentioned in DTU times as well.

Alfaaz was the official content partner for the open mic organised by Shiddat, the music society
of USME. The event was widely appreciated and witnessed a huge audience (number of
participants unknown as the event was organised externally).

 Fresher’s Welcome

(November 2020)

Alfaaz collaborated with all the cultural society heads of USME, and filmed a 15-minute-long video that welcomed the freshers through a mode of answering FAQs in a witty way. The event was hugely appreciated by the freshers and saw 2000+ views on its handle.
